This department aims to train pre-service teachers in social studies as competent educational experts who will cultivate students' civic awareness in secondary schools.
To this end, the curriculum of the department is composed of six disciplinary areas: Theories of Social Studies; Politics/Political Education; Law/Legal Education; Economics/Economic Education; Sociology-Anthropology/Socio-Cultural Education; and Ethics-Philosophy/ Ethics-Philosophy Education. While studying various academic areas, students can acquire knowledge and methods of inquiry across social science and humanities. Furthermore, our department focuses on promoting competencies to explore and develop teaching-learning methods which can be implemented in the field. Since the major in social studies education is based on a wide academic background, there is a great potential for development if you want to continue to study any area of social science.
